Leroy Walter Fink

July 12, 1934 — May 4, 2024

Vicksburg, MI

Leroy Walter Fink, a dedicated farmer and beloved family man, passed away on May 4, 2024, at the age of 89. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and ingenuity. Born on July 12, 1934, in Whiteford Township, Monroe County MI, Leroy graduated from Burnham High School in Sylvania, OH with the Class of 1952. His journey through life was marked by unwavering commitment to his family and passion for farming.

One of Leroy's proudest accomplishments was his enduring marriage to Barbara. They exchanged vows on October 8, 1955, embarking on a journey that spanned an incredible 68 years and included raising five wonderful children together.

Throughout his life, Leroy's hands were always busy working on a farm and with farm equipment. In 1957, Leroy made a significant move with his wife Barbara to Vicksburg, MI, where they resided on a beautiful farm. Alongside family members, Leroy ventured into a partnership and co-owned Harre & Fink International Harvester. Known as the first farmer in Kalamazoo County to implement irrigation on his land, Leroy was not only a pioneer but also a true innovator in his community.

Aside from his dedication to farming, Leroy found joy in simple pleasures like fishing, camping, and tinkering with old cars. However, above all else, spending quality time with his family held the utmost importance in his heart. His family fondly remembers him as a problem solver, hardworking individual with a generous and loving spirit—a natural jack of all trades who brought light and wisdom wherever he went.

In addition to his professional and personal endeavors, Leroy took pride in being a founding member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church—a testament to his faith and commitment.

Leroy Walter Fink will be deeply missed by his surviving family members—his beloved wife Barbara Fink of 68 years; four children: Stormy (Dan) Flynn, of Cincinnati, OH; John (Cheryl) Fink, of Vicksburg; Charles “Buck” Fink, of Vicksburg; Wendy Fink, of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister: Eileen Mitchell, of Adrian and other relatives and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and warmth.

He is preceded in death by his son: Leroy “George” Fink; one grandson: Josh Fink; and his siblings: Doris Fischer, Wilbert Fink, and Marvin Fink.

We celebrate Leroy's remarkable life filled with love for his family and dedication to farming—an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy will continue to flourish in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
