Lisa Agate

Lisa Ann (Herrick) Agate, age 65, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 23, 2025. She was born on March 21, 1960, in Madrid, Spain, to Thomas Herrick and Mary Dietrich. Lisa spent her early childhood in Guam before moving back to the United States. While her father served in the Air Force, the family lived in several states before eventually settling in Coldwater, MI, following his retirement.

On June 27, 1992, Lisa was united in marriage with the love of her life, Andrew Agate, in Kalamazoo, MI. She earned her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and made Kalamazoo her lifelong home.

Lisa dedicated many years to her work at MRC Industries, where she served as a manager and took great joy in supporting both clients and staff. Her kindness, patience, and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone she worked with.

In her personal life, Lisa cherished spending time with her family above all else. She loved reading, gardening, and caring for animals of all kinds. She looked forward to monthly dinners with her close group of friends and treasured the moments she shared with them. Most of all, she found her greatest joy in being a grandmother.

Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Andrew Agate; her children, Sarah Booher and Justin Agate; her parents, Thomas Herrick and Mary Dietrich; her siblings, Patrick Thomas and Cinthia Herrick; and her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Weston, Elizabeth Agate, and Amelia Booher. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Deanne (Josh) Randall, Jill (Chris) Peterson, Shannon Herrick, Melissa (Mark) Lewis, Sean Herrick, Caleb (Itavi) Herrick, Kelsy Olvitt, and Travis Olvitt.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Lisa on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 5975 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI 49002.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made in Lisa's memory may be directed to a charity of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Lisa will be remembered for her gentle heart, unwavering kindness, and deep love for her family. Her warmth and generosity will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

Her memory will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched and the love she shared with those closest to her.
