Mom
Seldom in my life did I see your tears but your smile, your laughter filled our days
Your love poured out thru your hands
Sewing cloths, Knitting your famous Christmas stockings
Canning, making jam, pickles, and stewed tomatoes…can still smell those smells…
Those end of the month empty pantry meals (Milk rice with cinnamon and brown sugar is still my favorite!)
And the piano…..
We visited our Grandparents every month
Your folks, next to the greenhouse, we’d run wild and find flowers thrown out
(but still beautiful to us) to bring back to you.
And Dad’s folks…the kittens and cows and room to run, fish and swim…
We grew up with roots.
And the camping…we traveled the world in seems in that pop up camper,
somehow you kept us entertained over thousands of miles in our station
wagon…showing us the beauty of the world around us.
In the evenings we fought over who sat where while you read us books, all
kinds of books, all leaning on you lost in the other worlds you gave us with your voice.
I will never forget your love, it is in me, part of me, sustains me
I miss you...
