Lorna Jean Landrum

Lorna J. Landrum, 82, of Portage, MI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 25, 2026. She was born February 6, 1944 to Lester and Margaret (Sparks) Fruehling in Ellensburg, WA.

She grew up in Washington with her brother, Douglas Fruehling and her sister, Linda (Fruehling) Swanson. Friends of hers set her up on a blind date with David Landrum while he was serving in the Army in the state of Washington. They married and had their first two children, Rod and Lisa in Washington. They moved their young family to Michigan where they remained. Lauri and Rick came along over those next few years.

Lorna was a homemaker which gave her the ability to be involved in their kids' lives and their schools in many ways. Lorna loved the small town of Fulton, she volunteered in the local fire department and was the Wakeshma Township Treasurer when the kids were younger. As if she was not busy enough, she also catered many meals for the local Lions and Rotary Clubs, and was a Hospice volunteer. She recently retired from South County Community Services after serving them for 35 years. Fulton Christian Church was a very important part of her life. She served in many capacities within the church but what she cherished most was the friendships. They weren't just friends, they became family and second parents to her kids.

Surviving Lorna are her children, Lisa Robleski of Irving, Texas, Rod Landrum of Murfreesboro, TN, Lauri (Kevin) Wiessner of Kalamazoo, MI and Rick (Kay) Landrum of Portage, MI. She will be dearly missed also by her grandkids and great grandkids, Amanda, Danielle, Travis, Zach, Grace, Michael, Abel, Theo, Juliet, Phoenix, Valkyrie and Timmy.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Rosa Fruehling-Watson, Steven Fruehling and Kimberly Bramer, all of Washington. She will also be missed by her husband's family, Marian Landrum of Colon, MI, Angela Landrum of Kendallville, IN, Charles (Carol) Landrum of Marcellus, MI, Kimberly Landrum of Constantine, MI and Sally (Gary) Belote of Colon, MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her mother, father, sister and brother.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on October 17, 2026 at 1 pm with visitation at 11 am at Fulton Christian Church, 14108 East W Avenue, Fulton, MI 49052. Inurnment will be at North Fulton Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, David. Everyone is invited to come back to the church for a light luncheon.
