Mark Anderson, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home on June 5, 2025. Born on February 22, 1955, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Mark was a proud graduate of Loy Norrix High School and a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Dana Anderson of Kalamazoo. Mark is survived by his brother, David (Teresa) Anderson of Schoolcraft, MI, and his beloved nieces and nephews: Heather (Tania), Kevin, Thomas (Nadia), and Jessica (Jessop), along with their families.
Mark grew up swimming and was the anchor of a state-ranked Loy Norrix team—a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. Whether skiing, boating, or swimming at Eagle Lake, he found joy in the water. He split his time between Michigan summers and Florida winters, always chasing sunshine and good times. One of his greatest joys was taking friends and family tubing—his mission always being to send them flying with laughter.
Mark wasn’t just the life of the party—he was the party. A legendary bartender, he lit up Kalamazoo’s nightlife for decades, from Bourbon Street to Wayside and beyond. His energy, humor, and unforgettable presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met. To the friends he leaves behind: he loved you fiercely. You were his chosen family, his constant through life’s ups and downs. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the love.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held in August. While at www.amsfuneralhomes.com please take time to sign Mark's guestbook and/or share a memory with his family.
The Anderson family is being cared for by the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, 129 S. Grand Street, Schoolcraft, MI 49087. 269-679-5622.
