Mark Lambert Jager

Mark Lambert Jager, 62, of Shelbyville, MI, passed away on August 10, 2023. Born on January 14, 1961, in Frankfort, Germany, Mark was a hardworking and dependable individual who was loved by all who knew him. He was a highly skilled Master Automotive Mechanic, dedicating most of his years to working with various automotive companies before venturing out to establish his own successful automotive repair shop, Marks Motors, in Otsego. After retiring, Mark selflessly volunteered his time with the Orangeville Community Outreach program for many years.

Mark's passion for cars extended beyond his professional career. He loved tinkering around and working on cars, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. When he wasn't under the hood of a vehicle, he enjoyed fishing up north and spending quality time with his friends and family, especially cooking for them.

Mark will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He was a loving father to his daughter, Brittany (Ben) Davis, and son, William (Samantha) Jager. His grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Davis, brought immense joy to his life. Mark was also a cherished partner to Gerry Monroe. He leaves behind his mother, Bonnie (John) Tolsma, brother Mike (Chris) Jager, sister Donna Jager, sister Deanne (Steve) Basterash, and in-laws Mike (Yvonne) O’Brien, Tom (Sherrie) O’Brien, Deborah O’Brien, and Steve O’Brien. Additionally, Mark will be deeply missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mark's life was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine Jager, step-son Johnny Rough VII, and father, Donald Jager. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Mark's honor on September 23rd at 2 p.m. at the Orangeville Township Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Wings Home of Allegan. Contributions can be made online through their website or mailed to Wings Home, c/o Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010, or to the Orangeville Community Outreach.

Mark's hard work, generosity, and sarcastic humor will be greatly missed. His legacy as a devoted family man, skilled mechanic, and compassionate community member will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

The Jager family is being cared for by the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, 120 South Woodhams Street, Plainwell, MI 49080. 269-685-5881.
