Marvin A ‘Bud’ Payne Jr.

Marvin A ‘Bud’ Payne Jr., 78, Kalamazoo, died July 2, 2025, in the loving care of his family. He was born June 6, 1947, in Boston MA, and moved to Kalamazoo MI six years ago from Brookfield IL. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and was deployed to serve in the Vietnam War for two tours.

Bud met Cissy in Cicero, IL, and they recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on May 2nd. He worked as a tool and die maker for many years and later worked as a custodian at St. Hugh Church and school in Lyons, IL. He was a proud lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Illinois District Four Commander once and Brookfield Post 2868 Commander twice.

Bud is preceded in death by his brother John; his parents: Marvin and Teresa; daughter Sharon, and many great pets.

Bud is survived by his wife, Cecilia M ‘Cissy’ (Losos); his daughter, Cecilia ‘Kati’ (Brandon) Kammer; his son, Jeremiah ‘Jake’; brothers: Thomas and Donald of FL; daughters: Lisa and Kellie of CA and many nieces, nephews & grandchildren. Bud will be missed by many loving friends as well as his loyal pets: Penny & Charlie, Buttons ‘Butts’ & Thimble ‘Meow-Meow’.

Bud’s Military Memorial service will be Thursday, July 17th, 11 a.m. (please arrive at 10:45) Fort Custer National Cemetery 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012

A reception will be held after the service at the home of the family. Future mail to Bud will be posted by USGPS (United States Gopher Postal Service) ~ “Where the gophers deliver the mail.”
