Mary Wright

Our beloved sister, Mary Tom Wright, passed away in South Haven, MI on September 20th.  She was the daughter of Frederick and Eleanor Tom Wright. Mary was born on March 30, 1951 in Sunnyvale, California.  Mary is remembered for her great sense of humor, quick wit, feisty personality, her love for her pets, and her devotion to family.  She loved spending time with her nephews as children, and continued her generous gifting to her grandniece, Juliana and grandnephew, Logan Wright.

Mary was a world traveler for much of her life and made lifelong friends wherever she went.  She lived in Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Germany, Santa Fe, California, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Michigan.  Mary studied at the University of Illinoi, The Monterey Institute of International Studies, and spent several summers studying literature at Magdalen College at Oxford University. She was an avid reader for her entire life, and particularly interested in nonfiction. Mary was an entertaining conversationalist, with amazing recall of details, and interesting and memorable anecdotes that resonated with her family and friends.

Mary had a variety of jobs throughout her life. She worked as a copy editor and journalist in Japan for 8 years, and worked most recently for the University of Michigan in their Education Texting Services department.

Mary is survived by her loving family including Brother Pat and Sister-in-law Sandy, Sisters Kathryn, Denise, and Stephanie, Brother James, and nephews Erik, Ryan, and Matthew. There will not be a service.  We encourage all who knew and loved Mary to remember her in their thoughts and prayers.
