Michael "Mike" Marra passed away on November 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pneumonia. Born on August 17, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Mike's warm personality and zest for life touched the hearts of all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

With an impressive career that spanned several industries, Mike's dedication and passion were evident throughout his professional journey. After completing his education at Houghton Lake High School in 1959, Mike went on to graduate with a B.A. in marketing from Ferris State University. Following his studies, he embarked on a successful career as a buyer for Herpolsheimer's Department Store in Grand Rapids.

Later, Mike shifted gears and found himself working as a sales representative for Parke Davis Pharmaceuticals. His charisma and knack for building genuine connections served him well in this role, earning him the admiration and respect of both colleagues and clients alike. Additionally, Mike utilized his skills in the automotive industry, where he thrived as a salesperson for various car dealerships.

Perhaps one of Mike's proudest accomplishments was his dedication to work even beyond retirement age. He continued to contribute to society until the remarkable age of 82 by serving as a cashier for Fleet Farm in Minnesota. This commitment is a testament to his strong work ethic and unwavering dedication to his craft.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mike found joy in exploring new places and experiencing different cultures. He embraced the beauty of travel within the United States and even had the opportunity to journey back to Italy—his cherished homeland—to connect with his roots.

More than anything else, Mike will be remembered for his genuine love of people and vibrant spirit. He cherished every moment spent engaging in heartfelt conversations with friends and strangers alike—the warmth exuding from him creating an environment that made anyone feel at ease. Life was truly an adventure for Mike, and he embraced it wholeheartedly.

In his leisure time, Mike found solace and excitement in visiting casinos. The thrill of the games and the lively atmosphere fueled his passion for this hobby, allowing him to find joy in each visit.  He also enjoyed going to air shows and particularly enjoyed watching the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds.

Throughout his well-lived life, Mike received numerous accolades for his exceptional salesmanship. Among his proudest accomplishments was receiving the Buick Salesmaster's award on multiple occasions—an honor that showcased his dedication and proficiency in his chosen field.

Mike leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Sharmin as well as his children Shannon (Chuck) Orr and Michael P. Marra. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Marissa (Tyler) Bergsma and Deanna (Mitch) Graver; great grandchildren: Benjamin Bergsma, Ryan Bergsma, Kelsey Bergsma and baby Graver on the way as well as several nieces, nephews and in laws.
