Mildred “Millie” Forsyth-Brown, of Vicksburg, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on October 18,1938 to Galvin and Mildred (Kline) Irwin in Constantine, Michigan; Millie grew up in Three Rivers, Michigan with her younger brother, John. It was a simple life on the farm. The family raised chickens, dairy cows, and other livestock.

Millie graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1957. Upon completion of high school, she met the love of her life, Marvin G Forsyth. On December 29, 1957 they joined in marriage. Together they had four children, Ronda, Randy, Wanda and Cindy.

Upon marrying Marvin, she became a farmer's wife which she described as challenging and rewarding. Millie was busy raising the children, birthing piglets in the middle of the night, driving tractor, and baling hay in 90+ degree heat. And if that wasn't enough, she always made sure everyone had a good meal to eat after the work was done.

One of Millie's passions was baking. She was fortunate enough to have a career at the Schoolcraft Home Bakery where many of the locals got to enjoy her delicious pastries. Eventually the business closed and Mildred found work doing another one of her passions, sewing. Millie became a seamstress at Kazoo Inc.

While the children were teenagers Millie and Marvin decided to go in different directions. They both went on to live life and remarried. Millie married Bud Shingledecker and she inherited two stepchildren, David and Wanda. After Bud's passing, Millie then married Jerry Brown, and her family grew even more adding more stepchildren. Jerry would eventually pass away from cancer.

With Millie's heart free to give again the flame between Marvin and her was rekindled (a flame that was never truly extinguished over 20 plus years earlier). They began to travel together. One of their many trips was a train ride out to Washington State to visit Wanda & family. They embarked on two cruises and took road trip to the south for an Allis Chalmers Tractor Convention called “The Blessing of the Orange”.

The love for each other continued to grow as they watched their family blossom and were blessed with more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Millie, with a broken heart had to say good-bye to Marvin on June 1, 2010, but her love for him gave her strength to continue through the years to come.

Millie's favorite past time was spending time with the family for holidays & birthdays. She loved to bake and cook for all the holidays. Millie loved to crochet gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed reading later in her years.

Millie will be remembered as a caring and loving person who gave entirely of herself asking for nothing in return. She always saw the "Good in Everyone" and was forgiving to a fault.

Millie is preceded in death by her husbands: Bud Shingledecker; Jerry Brown, Marvin Forsyth; parents: Galvin and Mildred Irwin; Daughter, Ronda Armstrong and son in law, Bob; daughter, Cindy Chapman; grandson, Bobby Armstrong; and brother, John Irwin.

She is survived by her two children: Randy (Dawn) Forsyth; and Wanda (Mark) Howlett; grandchildren: Kyle (Melissa) Howlett; Derrick (Izumi) Howlett; Shawn (Nicki) Forsyth; Travis Forsyth; Jessica (Nick) Brown; Greg (Ashley) Brown; Lisa Hammond; Carli Armstrong; Stephanie (Joe) Baldwin; Andrew Chapman; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; son-in-law: Mitch Chapman and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
