Modesta Jean DeKam

Modesta Jean DeKam, age 98, passed away early Thursday morning, February 22, 2024. She was born May 5, 1925 to Paul and Zeta Holton. She married Richard G. DeKam on May 5, 1952. Modesta was very active in Sigma Beta Phi sorority for many years.

She is survived by her five children: Richard (Dianne) DeKam, Mary (Bryce) Brown, Tom (Lori) DeKam, Don (Renae) DeKam, and Bec (Matt) Hartman. She has seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, plus another great-grandchild due in April. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. DeKam in 2012.

There will be a memorial mass held at the St. Joseph Church 936 Lake St, Kalamazoo, MI 49001 on April 11th. Mass will start at 11:00 am with a lunch to follow in the Community Building.
