Nancy J. Britton, 79, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at home, with family by her side. She was born on May 1, 1946, Auburn, New York to the late Edwin & Geraldine (LaDue) Hapeman.
Nancy loved the outdoors and found great joy in nature. She could often be found tending to her garden, watching Hallmark movies or planning her next holiday or craft project. Nancy had a special talent for bringing people together—special occasions and family dinners were her true specialty. When Nancy hosted a meal, attendance was a must, but no one ever minded, as she was an exceptional cook. She also loved to travel, sew and create beautiful crafts, sharing her creativity and warmth with everyone around her.
Nancy graduated from Cato Meridian Central High School in 1964. When she moved to Michigan, she went on to take some college classes at KVCC and ended up teaching some college classes there. Nancy retired from Borgess Hospital after many years of service.
A devoted wife and mother, Nancy, dedicated her life to her family. Nancy is survived by her children: Sandra Wishart, Sindy (Bridget Biggs) Britton, Mike (Stephanie) Britton, Valerie (Kevin) Burd and Matthew (Rachael) Britton; her grandchildren: Andrew (Carrie) Wishart, Alexander (Monica) Wishart, Anthony (Beth Ann) Wishart, Ryan (Kelsey) Britton, Mitchell Britton, Kayla Burd, Jackson Burd, Anna Burd and Walker Britton; her great grandchildren: Lincoln Wishart, Addilyn Wishart, Jace Britton, Samuel Britton, Watson Wishart and Alessa Armetrout. She is also survived by her sister Linda Holston and her brother Charles Hapeman as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert Britton; her son William Britton; her brother John Hapeman and her sister Barbara Ross.
