Nancy Kubin-Hutchinson

Nancy Kubin-Hutchinson, age 64, passed away on July 6, 2024, with family and friends that are also family by her side. Nancy was born on December 21, 1959, to Henry & Shirley (Matthews) Kubin. She attended St. Louis high school in Michigan. She graduated in 1978 and then attended Saginaw Valley State University and then received her master’s in nursing at Michigan State University. After graduation she moved to Mississippi where is worked as a Nurse Practitioner before settling back in Michigan. 

While in Mississippi, she met Willie Hutchinson. They married on October 10, 2015, in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Family and grandchildren were the love of Nancy’s life. She enjoyed travelling and loved to scuba dive. Her friends and her co-workers at Borgess Hospital were a large part of her life and very important to her. Nancy took up cooking and became a very good cook. She was known for her spaghetti and chili. 

Nancy is survived by her husband Willie Hutchinson; mother-in-law Mary Lou Hutchinson; siblings: George (Winnifred) Kubin and Henry (Julie) Kubin Jr.; brother-in-law Ralph Hutchinson; sister-in-law Kristi Johnson; three children: Melissa (Brad) Barrett, Bryant Betts, Beverly Good; seven grandchildren: Benjamin Massey, Aireyal Barrett, Anna Bailey, Nolan Betts, Maecy Betts, Kaleb Good and Brelan Good well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Cheryl Kubin-Raab. 

Following her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is being planned. 

Arrangements for Nancy Kubin Hutchinson are as follows: Visitation 1 pm -5 pm (Michigan Time) Thursday, July, 11 2024 in the chapel at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mom did not want a traditional funeral. We’ve decided to do it at the hospital where her coworkers could stop by, even if they had to work. If you knew my mom, you knew how much she loved being a Nurse Practitioner. 

At 3 pm Michigan time (2 pm Mississippi time) there will be an induction into the Nursing Honor Guard. The local chapter will read the Nightingale Tribute and relieve her of her nursing duties here on Earth. I will be live streaming this service from my facebook page for those who cannot attend.
