Nancy L Smith passed away Monday October 7, 2024. Nancy was born March 10, 1933, at home in Comstock, Michigan to Otis F. and Evelyn (Gossen) Jones. Nancy was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and married her husband, Richard, of 58 years on June 15, 1951. Richard passed away in 2009. 

They enjoyed traveling during Richard’s service in the USAF before returning to Kalamazoo area. They raised three children – Sharon, Sue Ellen, and Steven. Nancy’s working life was spent as a secretary for several companies: her favorite being secretary to the principal at Parchment North Elementary School. Richard and Nancy built several homes as a hobby. Upon retirement they spent 12 winters in Florida. When health issues caused their return year-round to family in the Kalamazoo area, they found Hope Woods to be a wonderful home and enjoyed many activities and friends. 

Surviving Nancy is her loving family including her daughter Sharon (Richard) Santman and daughter Sue Ellen, daughter-in-law Sharon Smith-White. Grandchildren: Amy, Bryan (Jessica), Eric, Brad, Kurt (Kiersten), Todd and Jeff. Great grandchildren: Andrew, Owen, Jonathan, Jackson, Ayvrie, Allie, Quinn, Zoe, and Autumn. Nancy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, son Steven and brothers Duane and Keith Jones. In keeping with her wish’s, cremation has taken place, and she will join Richard at Ft. Custer National Cemetery where a private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to may donate to the charity of your choice in her memory.
