“Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?”
-Mary Oliver
Nick Revas, “Nicko,” “Revas,” the “Nickster,” lived his life with a pleasant disposition, easy eye contact, a gentle and tender heart, a playful smirk, quick wit, and wise and soulful observations about life. For all of us, he died too young, overwhelmed by the insidious disease of alcoholism.
In his younger years, Nick participated in Boy Scouts, Eastside Little League, and high school baseball. He graduated from Comstock Schools. Spending time in the family kitchen with his Greek father, Ron, Nick learned to love all things food, especially sharing a well-prepared meal with others. His family went on summer camping trips throughout the U.S carrying along various cousins and friends. Regular Hamilton clan reunions and Revas holidays united him with kin. He also participated in golf, board and lawn games, and park walks and Frisbee with always-by-his side, LadyBug, an Australian “blues” healer. He worked in the retail, restaurant, and construction industries.
Nick was born of Ron Revas and Mary Hamilton. His father preceded him in death. Those living, who love and cherish Nick in their hearts include: his mother, Mary Hamilton; his yaya, Millie Revas Pardee; aunt and uncles, Randi Defresne, Jim Revas, David Hamilton, Susan Kalmbach, Nancy Bruce, Barbara Miller, Janet Raklovits, and John Hamilton. In his large extended family, Nick spent time with his cousins playing, traveling, and sharing in weekends and holidays. He is also loved by his godparents, Elizabeth Coleman and Tony Kingsley, his life partner, Rebecca Burdick, and a group of good friends who all described him as a kind, generous and loving guy.
Alcoholism, the disease of denial, is cunning and devious; it is an incurable albeit controllable disease. Nick never stopped trying to kick this chronic and unchecked addiction. Dependency on alcohol numbed his awareness and, in the end, took his health, though never his eternal soul. Nick’s light returned to the Universe where it was re-united with generations of welcoming ancestral souls. Sadly, and too soon for us all, it was Nick’s time to go home.
Forever and Always, Son…Hawks Fly High…Look to the Light.
Namaste, Nick, Enormous Day.
Cremation has taken place.
