Norman J. Ullemeyer, 86, of Portage, Michigan, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Norm was born January 18, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Edward and Alvina (Kinkopf) Ullemeyer. He graduated from Shaw High School in Cleveland in 1955. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1958, during which he developed an interest in offset printing. Upon his discharge in 1964, he went to work at Addressograph Multigraph in Cleveland and was transferred to Michigan in 1971 to manage the Michigan regional branch. On October 19, 1985, in Portage, Michigan, he was united in marriage to Martha “Marty” Rhodes. He and Marty met square dancing and were performers for Michigan in Motion at square dancing conventions and other events throughout the area. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, where he played dominoes several times a week. Norm loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle and rode up until last year.
Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Marty, who passed away in 2011. He was also preceded in death by a brother Eugene Ullemeyer in 2016. Norm is survived by two children, Darla Kot of Santa Barbara, CA, and Michael (Julia) Ullemeyer also of Santa Barbara; three grandchildren, Michael (Lori) and Jessica Ullemeyer and Amelia Kot; one sister, Carole Ullemeyer of Fairview Park, OH; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
