Patricia Rose

Patricia “Pat”(Hnilo) Rose passed away peacefully, on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Centrica Rose Arbor. She was born March 16, 1947, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Tvarusek) Hnilo. Pat was the second of four children and together the family grew up in Comstock.

Pat attended Comstock High School where she was in the drama club. She graduated in 1965. After graduating, she got her first job at Gibson Guitar and later she worked at Kalamazoo Aeromotive. She retired from Aeromotive after more than 25 years of service.

In 1966 while out with friends, Pat met Terry Rose. After about a year long courtship, they married in June of 1968. They lived in Kalamazoo then moved to Bloomingdale for a while before settling in Portage.

Pat enjoyed crocheting. She loved to cook and entertain in her home; with pool parties and Christmas gatherings. And she never turned down a trip to the casino. She was very crafty and handy – she could do it all. She also enjoyed traveling but her first love was family.

She is survived by her siblings: Joseph (Sandra) Hnilo and James (Debbie) Hnilo; her nieces and nephews: Christine Hnilo, Jeffrey Hnilo, Cory Hnilo and Erica Hnilo as well as several other nieces and nephews on the Rose side of the family; her special stepdaughter Laura Johnston. Pat is also survived by many cousins.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Terry, her parents and her brother Tom.

In accordance with her wishes, a private burial has taken place. A special thanks goes out to all the family and friends who looked in on Pat.
