Patricia L. Seidl, of Portage passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on March 31, 1933, in Fairmont, IL. She was the daughter of Fred and Rose (Luksza) Peskar.

Patricia’s life was marked by an unwavering commitment to those she loved. Described by her family as faithful, loving, generous, strong-willed, and loyal, she exemplified the best qualities of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her Polish heritage was a source of pride, and the traditions and values she cherished were evident in how she lived every day.

Patricia met the love of her life, Frank Seidl, while working as a receptionist. Their story together began with a touch of humor and affection. When she learned that Frank, a visiting sales rep, would be stopping by, she would have the other receptionist that was also named, Pat, hide in the closet so he wouldn’t be confused to which Pat he was talking too. This blossomed into a relationship that began with a blind date and became a lifelong partnership. Patricia and Frank married on April 10, 1958, and shared over 50 precious years together until Frank’s passing in 2009.

After their marriage, Patricia and Frank settled in Southern California, where they built a home filled with love and laughter. In 1965, the family relocated to Portage, Michigan. Portage was a community that she felt connected to and loved for the rest of her life. The relocation also resulted in a memorable journey that included driving a motorhome with all five children and their beloved dog, Buffy, back to California so they could bring Frank’s mother back to Michigan.

As a devoted mother and homemaker, Patricia took care of her family with tireless dedication. She would never let her children leave the house without first marking the sign of the cross on their foreheads and praying for their safety. This was a simple but powerful example of her faith and maternal love. She found joy in gathering her family around the table, especially during holiday dinners, where her cooking brought everyone together to celebrate.

Patricia’s home was always adorned with beautiful flowers from her garden. Beyond her own household, Patricia touched many lives through her active involvement at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Portage. She was a faithful member, participating in the church prayer line and volunteering for funeral luncheons, offering comfort and support to others in times of need.

Her faith was a daily guide. Patricia prayed her rosary every day, and this spiritual devotion anchored her through life’s joys and challenges. Of all her accomplishments, it was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her the greatest pride and fulfillment. She cherished every moment with them, celebrating their milestones and watching her family flourish through the generations.

Those who knew Patricia will remember her enduring generosity, her strength of character, and the profound love she extended to her family and community. The memories of family road trips, shared laughter at holiday gatherings, and her steadfast prayers create a tapestry of a life well lived and deeply loved.

Patricia L. Seidl’s legacy continues in the lives of those she cared for and the community she enriched with her spirit. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her, holding her gentle yet determined presence close in their hearts.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband: Frank; her parents: Fred and Rose Peskar; two sisters: Rosemary Piantanida and Betty Szewczyk.

She is survived by her five children: Andy (Carol) Seidl, of Ann Arbor; Karl Seidl, of Gaylord; Beth (Jim) Teachout, of Kalamazoo; Mary (John) Wittenberg, of Livonia; and Lori (Dennis) McCarthy, of NH; nine grandchildren: Jenna (Seth Welton) Teachout, Jordan (Ryan) Carrier, Mitchell (Sidney) Wittenberg, Patti (Kirsten) Wit-Watt, Frank Seidl, Rita Seidl, Rose Seidl, Kennedy McCarthy, and Griffin McCarthy, and three great grandchildren: Marlyn, Rosemary, and Peter. She is also survived by her two sisters: Cece Weir and Janet Boyle; and 25 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11am. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10am. Entombment will be held at Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, on Friday at 10am.
