Peter Leon Rizzo, of Vicksburg passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on November 27, 1952, in Kalamazoo, MI. He was the son of Peter Joseph and Mary Josephine (Millek) Rizzo. He was a devoted family man, and his life was marked by a deep commitment to his work, family, faith, and community.

Education was foundational in Peter's life. He graduated with the Class of 1972 from Portage Northern High School, and the friendships formed during those years remained significant throughout his life. After high school, he dedicated 30 years of his professional life to Upjohn/Pharmacia/Pfizer. He valued every moment of his longstanding career and made a positive impact on those around him.

An avid sports enthusiast, Peter had a particular passion for football. For three decades, he was a devoted attendee of Notre Dame Football games, showcasing his loyalty and love for the sport. His commitment to athletics extended also as a staunch supporter of Hackett Prep Athletics and Portage Northern. Peter generously shared his knowledge and encouraged young athletes as a coach for Vicksburg and Kalamazoo Little League.

Peter's deep-seated Catholic faith was central to his being. He found solace and strength in his spiritual practices, attending weekly mass and, whenever possible, daily mass. His faith profoundly shaped who he was and guided his actions and relationships. Described by his family as a sweetheart, generous, and thoughtful, Peter was known for his compassionate nature and kindness to others.

He loved to travel up north to camp, relishing the beauty of nature. In addition to his adventures in the great outdoors, he enjoyed the thrill of visiting casinos. He also volunteered as a Big Brother, passionately mentoring young people and making a lasting difference in their lives.

A highlight of Peter’s life was the marriage to the love of his life, Bonnie Armstrong, on June 8, 2003. Their bond was a source of pride and happiness for him, and he cherished the memories they created together.

Peter leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, and unwavering faith that will be remembered by all who knew him. He made the world a better place through his actions and his dedication to his loved ones and community. His memory will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have been a part of his life.
