Phyllis Marie Carter

Phyllis Marie Carter, 92, of Galesburg Michigan passed away on Saturday December 30, 2023, at Reflections Memory Care of Battle Creek, MI.

Phyllis was born in 1931 to Elliott and Marie Tuckey in Kalamazoo. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central and worked briefly at UpJohn Company until she met the love of her life, Robert Carter, and married in 1951. After raising her children, Phyllis returned to work at Walgreens Pharmaceuticals until her retirement.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Sandra (and Mel) Porter of Galesburg and Susan Carter of Park Hills KY. Her grandchildren; Stacey Stewart of Park Hills KY., Stephanie (and Matt) Thornton of Ceresco MI, Bryan Porter of Battle Creek, MI and Mitchell (and Jessica) Carter of Kalamazoo, MI., and a step-granddaughter Melanie Durham of St. Jacob IL. Phyllis is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Mitchell Carter and by her husband of 60 years, Robert Carter.

At Phyllis’ request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services. A family tree planting memorial will take place in the spring.
