R. William Farquhar

R. William Farquhar (Bill), 84 years old, passed away on December 6th 2023 surrounded by his family. Bill grew up in Marcellus, MI with his parents and siblings. He married his wife Marsha (Marusek) in 1961, and they recently celebrated 62 years of marriage together. They had three children: William, Ron, and Tony. Bill was a hard-working man who served in the U.S. Army and provided for his family by working at Durametallic (Flowserve) for 32 years.

Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed serving others, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and attending all of his children and grandchildren’s events. In his younger years, Bill rode motorcycles and spent a stint of time as a stock-car driver at the Galesburg Speedway. He was very mechanically inclined, and could fix anything. After retirement, he and Marsha built a cabin on a lake up north, which his family was able to enjoy for many years.  He loved traveling the country with his family, hunting, fishing the Great Lakes, playing cards, watching Michigan football, and was a Civil War enthusiast. He also loved dogs, specifically golden retrievers. Bill was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his wife Marsha, his sons William (Lois) and Tony (J-Me), his grandchildren Sarah (Kelly) and Ryan (Megan), his great-granddaughter Zoey, and his sister Elaine. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Rosa Farquhar, his siblings, and his son, Ron Farquhar. A celebration of life will be held next summer.
