Rani Sinnathamby

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rani Sinnathamby, who departed this life peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family.

Rani was born in Elpitiya, Sri Lanka, and lived a life filled with love, kindness, adventure and service to others. She taught at Visakha Vidyalaya for several years before pursuing a master’s degree in environmental science. She then worked at the UDA and NBRO as an environmental consultant prior to retiring. She moved to the United States with her husband Sinna, to be with her daughter Sugandhi.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Sinna (Suppiah) Sinnatamby; her children Sugandhi Sridharan and Sujeevan Sinnatamby; son in law Mail Sridharan; her sisters Emie Yahathugoda and Mala Sri Munasinghe and brother Pushpakumara.

Rani will be remembered for her warm and inviting hospitality, passion for gardening and arts and crafts, loving and kind smile and unwavering support of those she loved.

A Hindu ceremony will be held on behalf of Rani on Sunday May 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Avink, McCowen, Secord Funeral Home, 5975, Lovers Lane, Portage, MI 49002, followed by visitation from 11 am to 2 pm on the same day.

Forever in our hearts, her memory will be a blessing to all who knew her.
