IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Bruce
Campbell, Jr.
July 8, 1956 – March 15, 2026
Celebration of Life
Richard Bruce Campbell, Jr., 69, of Vicksburg, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Richard was born July 8, 1956 in San Diego, California to Richard and Mary Jo (Rush) Campbell. Growing up he attended Battle Creek Public Schools, where he was on the dive team, before graduating in 1975. He loved to swim and explore the outdoors.
Richard enlisted in the US Navy in July 1975 where he joined the Naval Choir before being stationed in San Diego. Before retiring in 2023, he held various jobs and was known as a jack of all trades. Like his parents, he especially loved music. He enjoyed being a DJ/KJ for weddings, parties, and events at the VFW Post 5855. Richard could always be counted on to help others, you would find him in a good mood with a bright smile on his face.
Richard met the love of his life, Nancy Pahl, on July 4, 1979 in Battle Creek, Michigan. On June 1, 1980 they were united in marriage and have shared 45 years of adventure together ever since.
Richard had many interests and hobbies, he enjoyed bowling, softball, golf, and playing pool. Though he never got a 300 in bowling, Richard did achieve a few 290’s and even one 299. He did, however, golf a hole in one at States Golf Course during the charity fundraiser outing in July 2024 for Twelve Baskets.
Community was very important to Richard, he was a member of the American Legion Post 207 for many years, holding the position of Commander for two of those years. He was also the Governor of the Moose Lodge 88 for two years before becoming a founding member of the Celery City Moose Service Center.
Richard is survived by his wife: Nancy Campbell; his siblings: Carol and Patrick; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard and Mary Jo Campbell.
A Celebration of Life is to be held at States Golf Course, 20 W Avenue East, Vicksburg, Michigan 49097 on Friday, April 10 at 2PM with burial at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to American Legion Post 207, 8845 South Sprinkle Road, Portage, Michigan 49002 or Bronson Cancer Center, 805 John Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007.
