Richard Allen Underwood, 83, was born in Vicksburg to William Underwood and Rachel (Woodhouse) where he lived his whole life. In 1962 he married the love of his life, Donna (Wheeler). Together they had 3 children; Sharlene, Richard Jr., and Kelly.
Richard was employed at Parchment Paper for 35 years until he retired to pursue his dreams of owning his own business. Together he and his wife Donna owned D&D Variety in downtown Vicksburg for ten years.
In his spare time Richard enjoyed fishing with his friends and family, taking several trips to Canada. He was an avid Detroit sports fan, watching all the games he could.
Richard and Donna loved taking road trips. They traveled to the Upper Peninsula, and frequented The Great Smoky Mountains, as well as Las Vegas.
His family will always remember him as a hard worker, a loyal friend, a huge family supporter, and a great mentor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, and his son Richard Jr. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna Underwood, daughter Sharlene (Matt) Wedel, daughter Kelly (Jerry) Jensen, grandchildren; Melissa Kellogg (Steven), Jamie (Genny) Carter, Cassie (Nick) Force, Trey (Vanessa) Underwood, Nolan Underwood, Chad Underwood (Etta Oisten), Britany Decamp (Jaimie Love), Kenneth (Stephany) Decamp. Great grandchildren; Tristan and Ayden Kellogg, Christopher and Addison Carter, Ruthie Force, Olivia Underwood, Octavia, and Karmin Oisten, Austin Wyman, Makenna Noble, and Layton Love.
The family will be celebrating Richard's life on Saturday, November 25 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at Fulton Christian Church.
