Richard R.
Weeks
May 10, 1938 – April 5, 2026
Richard "Dick" R. Weeks, of Schoolcraft passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the age of 87. He is leaving behind a legacy marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and enduring love. Dick was born on May 10, 1938, in Coldwater, Michigan. He was the son of Royal and Esther (Chapman) Weeks.
Dick was raised in Athens, Michigan, where he laid the foundations of a life characterized by hard work and heartfelt relationships. A graduate of Athens High School, he soon after served his country as a refueler for Air Force jets.
After his military service, Dick pursued a career as a mechanical engineer in Wyoming, Michigan. Beyond his work, Dick was a man who found peace in the great outdoors; he loved fishing, hunting, and walking in the woods. These activities fed his soul and connected him deeply to nature. He was equally skilled in wood crafting and took great pride in having built his own home in Allegan while maintaining full-time factory work.
Perhaps most notably, Dick was proud of the loving relationship that he shared with JoAnne for over 30 years. Together they built a life full of warmth, mutual respect and family; finding immense joy in big adventures traveling and quiet nights at home cooking dinner – always together. Through the years, their shared family grew to include many grandchildren who were the light of Dick’s golden years.
Dick’s life was one of service, skill, and immense love, choosing to become a father and grandfather that he never had to be – even enjoying the smiles and waves from the daycare children near his home. It was a narrative woven through decades of meaningful experiences and cherished relationships. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all those who were fortunate to share in his journey.
Dick is preceded in death by his son: Dale Weeks; parents: Royal and Esther Weeks; and brother: Roger Weeks.
He is survived by his longtime love of 30 years, JoAnne Bult of Schoolcraft; her daughter, Rozie DeLoof of Schoolcraft, whom he loved as his own, and her children, Lane, Caroline, and Jolene; daughter, Diana Wykenham of Indiana; daughter-in-law: LuAnne Weeks; and his sister, Karen Rathmann; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering held on Friday, April 17th, from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home in Vicksburg.
