Robert Cecil Berg

BERG ?" Mr. Robert C. Berg, aged 93, of Grand Rapids, passed away November 8, 2009. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Myrtle, in 2002; and by a grandson, Douglas. He is survived by his children, Robert (Daniela) Berg of Orting, WA, Patricia (George) Behe of Mt. Clemens, MI, Douglas (Julie) Berg and Bonnie Berg of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Erin Berg of Washington, DC and Daniel (Adrienne Buttelman) Berg of Seattle, WA; sister, Jessie DeKubber; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A private memorial gathering of immediate family will be held. Robert (Bob) was a member of the Signal Corp and a decorated World War II veteran of the European and Pacific theatres. He was also a proud member of Doric Lodge 342 and the IBEW. The leader of the band is tired and his eyes have drawn closed, But his blood runs through our instruments and his song is in our souls. We are the living legacies of the Leader of our band. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society of Kent County or Hospice of Michigan would be appreciated.
