Robert Keith Kirby

Robert Keith Kirby, age 49, of Portage, MI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on November 1, 1971 the son of Robert R. and Linda (Sulivan) Kirby. Robert attended Portage Northern High School and was in the graduating class of 1989. Following high school, he honorably served in the United States Armed Forces in the Airborne division from 1991 until 1993. In 1996 Rob met the love of his life Amy and on August 16, 1997 the two were united in holy matrimony, they just celebrated 23 years of marriage. Rob was an awesome husband, father, and a master in the IT world. He was the smartest person anyone knew. He was resilient in everything he did. He made everyone feel like they had known him for years, he was extremely welcoming and had his arms open wide to anyone he met. He was loved by everyone, and we mean everyone. His kids meant the world to him and was constantly their #1 fan no matter what. Rob was also a member of the Board of Directors for the WMYSA soccer club. One of the biggest Star Wars fan there was and never ever turned his back on his Detroit Lions Team. He will be extremely missed by us all but will forever remain in our hearts. Rob is preceded in his passing by his grandma Pinkerton, Paternal grandparents: Samuel and Martha Kirby; Maternal grandparents: Paul and Ester Brooks. Left to cherish Robert’s loving memory is his wife: Amy (Adkins) Kirby, children: Ashley (Alex Ballentine) Kirby and Austin Kirby, parents: Bob and Linda Kirby, parents in-law: Harold and Bonnie Adkins; siblings: Brian Kirby and Cheryl Dupree; niece: Avery Kirby; and many friends. In accordance with the family’s wishes a public visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Avink Funeral Home and Cremation Society, 5975 Lovers Lane, MI 49002. ***Due to Covid 19 restrictions only 20 people will be allowed in the building at a time to pay their respects.
