Mary Alvina Kennedy, of Richland went to be with the Lord September 8, 2022 at the age of 91; her family was beside her and ensured she was surrounded by love at Borgess Medical Center.

Robert (Bob) Lewis Kennedy was born May 7, 1929 to Robert and Daisy Kennedy (Silverthorn). He made many friends while working at Johnson Howard Lumber Company. He also was a familiar and friendly face at Borgess Medical Center for 30 years, where he volunteered. He enjoyed being a member of the Lions Club of Richland where he helped organize many events and raise money for the blind.

Mary was born October 7, 1930 to Cecil and Mary Johnson (Everingham). Mary met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Kennedy while in high school. They were married for 74 glorious years. During those years they enjoyed time with family, bowling, golfing, and traveled throughout the United States. Mary held several part time jobs in her life, but the one she enjoyed the most was working at Gull Lake High School in the cafeteria. She often said working with the kids kept her young at heart. Mary volunteered at Borgess Medical Center for 30 years. She also volunteered several years with the Lions Club of Richland. She may have served you chicken during the July 4th parade.

They are preceded in death by two sons: Gary Kennedy (1968) and David Kennedy (2008); Bob’s two sisters: Jolynn Snyder and Louanne Upson; Bob’s brother: Richard Kennedy; Bob’s father: Robert Kennedy; mother: Daisy Verway; and Mary’s sister: Ruth Quinn.
