Robert Alan Schultz, of Marcellus passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the age of 61. He was born on January 3, 1964, in Kalamazoo. He was the son of Frederick and Ellen (Terry) Schultz. Robert went through Mattawan Schools and completed his education at Portage Central High School.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he spent a little over a year, earning decorations as a sharpshooter with the M-16 rifle, as well as the Army service ribbon during his time overseas in Germany. This service was a source of pride for him, and it exemplified his commitment and dedication to his country.
Throughout his life, Robert was known for his social and fun-loving personality. He had a caring and easygoing nature that endeared him to his neighbors, who appreciated his kindness, particularly his habit of feeding their horses. His love for nature extended to his enjoyment of feeding birds and owls, reflecting his deep appreciation for the world around him.
A man of many talents, Robert was also a musician at heart. He showcased his artistic side by playing the guitar and violin and even dabbled with the drums. His musical abilities brought joy not only to himself but also to those fortunate enough to hear him play.
Above all, Robert was a devoted father to his son, Joe, of whom he was immensely proud. He also loved his life partner, Jackie Bering and the past four years they spent together.
Robert Alan Schultz will be remembered fondly for his joyful spirit, his sense of humor, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy of kindness and devotion will certainly live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Ellen in 2006.
He is survived by his son: Joseph (Ashley Truelove) Schultz, of Gobles; father: Fred (Dorothy) Schultz, of Portage; life partner: Jacqueline Bering, of Marcellus; stepchildren: Matthew (Ariel) Bering, of Grand Blanc; and Katelyn Bering, of Grand Blanc. He is also survived by his three siblings: Kevin Schultz, of Gobles; Kathy Schultz, of MN; and Nancy Schultz, of Rockford; and several nieces and nephews.
