Robert Soter

Robert Soter, of Vicksburg passed away on June 19, 2020 at the age of 68. Robert was born on April 29, 1952 to Samuel and Tina Soter in Buffalo New York. Bob was a drummer for 59 years, as he started to teach himself to play the drums at 9 years of age and his older sister purchased him his very first drum set for his 12th birthday. While still in Buffalo, bob belonged to two bands, "The Nightwalkers" and "The Niighthawks." More recently, he was in a band called “The Backroads Band”. Bob was a man with many skills and he especially loved working in the automotive industry. Throughout his life he worked for GM, then he was a custom car painter and was a Condition Reporter for Schoolcraft Auto Auction before he retired. Soon after retiring, Bob found himself bored and needed a way to spend his time. He began working at Shaffer’s flowers and enjoyed every minute of it. Bob’s favorite part was dropping off flowers for someone and saying “somebody loves you”. He will always be known as an amazing father and partner. He loved his kids and his wife Rebecca of 19 years. Bob will be remembered as a hard worker that would do anything for his daughters and an amazing husband. Bob is survived by his wife Rebecca Soter; four daughters (and spouses) Kate (Soter) Selvidge and husband Kyle Selvidge, Lindsay Soter, Maya (Soter) David and husband Dustin David and Jillian Soter Licavoli and husband Jared Licavoli; his sister Marge Soter; four grandchildren Cheyanne, Izabella, Tate and Dylan; and two great grandchildren John Albert and Everly. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Samuel Anthony and Fatina (Neenos) Soter, his sister Elana Soter, and the mother of his children Vickie Lehto and stepson Daniel. While at Robert's webpage at www.mccowensecord.com please take time to sign his guestbook by lighting a candle and/or sharing a memory with his family. The Soter family is being cared for by the McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, Rupert-Durham Chapel, 409 South Main Street, Vicksburg, MI 49097 (269-649-1697).

Hard to believe! Even though it has been many years since I saw Bob, it was still a shock to hear of his passing. My Sincerest condolences to the entire Soter family. Bob was one of our gang, when we were in high school and afterward. A GREAT guy who will be missed, but Never forgotten! Sincerely, Joe Piccillo.

I grew up in Tonawanda, NY down the street from Bob. I purchased many car parts from Bob as he always had fast muscle car Chevys. Bob was always there to help you and offer assistance to young car builders. I worked at the GM Tonawanda motor plant with a gentlemen who I found out , later, was Bob's Dad; another gentlemen. Bob was a friend to all and very sorry to hear of his passing at such an early age. Dan Vivian
