Rocky S. Saunders, age 63, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Rose Arbor Hospice Care on Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was born on June 17, 1962, in Kalamazoo, the son of Levon Dale "LD" and Eva (Rice) Saunders.

Rocky graduated from Plainwell High School in 1980, where he played both football and baseball. He carried his love of the outdoors throughout his life, especially enjoying hunting and fishing.

A skilled craftsman, Rocky owned and operated Rocky Saunders Construction for most of his life. He was widely known for his talent in carpentry and woodworking, generously sharing his knowledge with friends and family-many of whom continue to use the skills he taught them today.

Rocky was a man of strong character and a giving heart. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand and was known for standing up for those who could not stand up for themselves. His kindness, strength, and willingness to help others will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his former wife of 36 years, Suzanne (Hoard) Saunders; his children, Danielle (Joseph) Lehrman, Rocky (Kelsey) Saunders, Ethan Saunders, and Sophia (Ryan McDaniel) Saunders; his beloved grandchildren, Sadie, Henry, and Hudson Saunders; his siblings, Mick, Lonnie, and Tag; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kymberly.

In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. A time of visiting will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at North Point Church, 571 N 10th St, Plainwell, Michigan, with Reverend Jason Zimmer officiating.

Rocky's legacy lives on in the hands he helped, the lessons he shared, and the strength he inspired in everyone fortunate enough to know him.
