Rollin Hildebrand Jr, of Vicksburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the age of 95. Rollin was born in LaGrange, IN on October 1, 1926. He was the son of Rollin Sr and Bessie (Weirch) Hildebrand. Rollin graduated from Vicksburg High School. He later married Mary Lou Miller in Kalamazoo on June 6, 1947 and had four daughters together. Rollin owned and operated R. Hildebrand Builders, Inc, and had the motto, “Builder of Better Homes”. He also was a pastor of several churches over the years. His interest also involved photography, hunting, fishing, reading and being around people giving a message of hope. He studied nutrition and lived to the age of 95 living a holistic lifestyle. He was a good cook, and the family loved his milk gravy. He was very creative with wood, and did everything by hand. Rollin loved his flower garden and working around the house maintaining his lawn. Once, the Kalamazoo Gazette even featured his lawn and landscaping in the paper. Rollin and the family enjoyed many trips traveling by RV around the country and parts of Canada. He was also a member of the Kalamazoo Kiwanis Club. Rollin Hildebrand will be sadly missed by his family but will be forever remembered by those who loved him as: an encourager, kind hearted, compassionate, quick witted, wise, and a man with great faith. Rollin is survived by his wife of 74 ½ years, Mary Lou; four daughters: Linda (Bob) Mohr, of Lawton; Sharon Richey, of Vicksburg; Sue (Dale) Arndt, of Scotts; Lynn (Bill) McCarty, of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters: Virginia Bogema, of Schoolcraft; Ruth Fritz, of PA; and Margaret (Richard) Fifer, of FL; Sisters and brother-in-law: Joyce Hildebrand, of Vicksbrug; and Mike (Jan) O’Halloran, of Galesburg. He is preceded in death by his parents: Rollin Sr and Bessie Hildebrand; two brothers: Howard (Maribel) and Robert Hildebrand; and two brother-in-laws: Albert Fritz and Bill Bogema. Rollin has been cremated and a Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene, 7520 East U Avenue, Vicksburg,MI 49097.
