Ronald SheelyRonald E. Sheely, of Portage passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the age of 75. Ron was born on January 5, 1945 in Camp Shelby, MS. He was the son of Merritt and Viola (Carey) Sheely. Ron was a Road Inspector for the Michigan Department of Transportation. On June 6, 1987 he married his wife Betty. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions. He will be remembered by his family for having a generous heart, independent spirit, being strong-willed, and having a charitable heart. Ron is preceded in death by his wife Betty; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Hodgman. Ron is survived by his three children: Michael (Elizabeth) Sheely, of Otsego; Keith Sheely, of IL; and Anthony (Tina) Sheely), of Grand Rapids; four stepchildren: Marty O’Brien; Clark O’Brien; March Wegeler; and Doni Anderson; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 3:30 at the McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 409 South Main, Vicksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:30. In accordance to the State of Michigan guidelines 25 people will be allowed into the building at a time, and mask are required. Burial will be held at the Gourdneck Cemetery in Vicksburg.
