Samuel “Sam” Paul Garceau, of Kalamazoo passed away on Monday, April 13th, 2026 at the age of 79. He was born on May 4, 1946 in Marquette, MI. He was the son of Samuel, Sr. and Lillian (Peppin) Garceau. Sam's early years were shaped by a family move from Marquette to the Flint area when he was about seven years old. He attended Holy Redeemer High School, graduating with the Class of 1964.

Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army from December 2, 1965, until November 2, 1967. Following this time of his life he worked various jobs before starting his own businesses: Ultra Power Washing and Chimney Cleaners of Grand Blanc.

Sam was a devoted family man. His 46 years of marriage to his wife, Karen, was a point of pride. They were married on September 18, 1979. Together they raised three sons: Rob, Timm, and Eric, who were the center of his world. Family was paramount to Sam, and he found great joy in being a supportive father and grandfather. Known for his unique sense of humor, he treasured moments spent sharing a laugh and stories with his family.

Those who knew Sam remember him as honest, loving, kind, and generous with his time. Later in life, he extended his care beyond family through volunteer work with the Red Cross, particularly focusing on disaster relief efforts during hurricanes. His willingness to help others in times of need speaks to his character.

An avid outdoorsman, Sam enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed doing these activities with his grandchildren. These became cherished memories that will be remembered.

Samuel Paul Garceau's life was one characterized by dedication to his family, to his country, and to his community. His legacy endures through the lives he touched and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents: Samuel Sr and Lilian Garceau and his sister-in-law: Sia Garceau.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; three sons: Rob (Krista) Garceau, of Grand Blanc; Timm Garceau, of China; and Eric (Danielle) Garceau, of NY; five grandchildren: Courtney (Andrew) Overman; Caitlyn Garceau, Pierce Garceau, Archer Garceau, and Della Garceau; and two great grandchildren: Elliot and Addison Overman.
