Scott Robert Hiemstra, of Vicksburg passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the age of 66. He was born on February 7, 1959, in Vicksburg, Michigan. He spent his early years in the close-knit community of Vicksburg, where he was well-known and respected for his numerous contributions to both his trade and his friendships.

A proud member of the Class of 1977 at Vicksburg High School. He was an active participant in the marching band and enjoyed playing on both the baseball and football teams. Scott then went to Ferris State University, where he received associate degrees in automotive and mechanical engineering.

For approximately 11 years, Scott owned and operated his own automotive shop in his hometown. He also worked with his dad, Fred for many years taking care of cars for the community. Scott’s work ethic and expertise in the automotive industry earned him the trust and admiration of many. In addition to his professional endeavors, Scott also devoted time as a volunteer lieutenant fireman, proudly serving his community.

Scott's personality was marked by his strong-willed nature and vibrant sense of humor, which made him a cherished friend to many. He valued relationships deeply and formed lasting bonds with the numerous friends that he collected throughout his life. Scott had great respect and loyalty for his friends. Great memories where always shared around the pole barn fireplace.

In his leisure time, Scott found joy in boating, particularly enjoying trips to the Hardy Dam. Vicksburg, however, was his home and he enjoyed each summer seeing friends and family at the Vicksburg Lions Club B& B Festival. Here he could have an adult beverage or play some horseshoes. For the past 12 years Scott loved spending his life with Bethany. It was very important to him to share his love he had for their relationship.

Scott will be remembered not only for his contributions to the community but also for the legacy that will live on in the hearts and memories of his friends and community, who will forever treasure the moments shared with him.

Scott is preceded in death by his mother: Nancy Cross Hiemstra; father: Fred Hiemstra; and brother: Brad Hiemstra.

He is survived by his companion of 12 years: Bethany, of Vicksburg; two daughters: Jessica (Travis) Hiemstra-Hargrove, of MO; Jennifer (Brock) Goetz, of TN; three grandchildren: Jackson, Katie, and Avery. He was also survived by his sister: Jayma (Eric) Teutsch, of PA; sister-in-law: Colleen Hiemstra, of Vicksburg; special nephew: Darren Hiemstra, of Vicksburg; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Scott has been cremated, and a private gathering and burial of the ashes will be held at a later date.
