Scott McDonald

Scott Lee McDonald of Shelbyville, MI, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 64 years old.

Scott was born on July 11, 1960, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Robert and Barbara (Wondergem) McDonald Sr. He graduated from Delton Kellogg Schools and spent most of his life enjoying the beauty and community of Gun Lake.

A true lake-lover at heart, Scott found joy in boating and relaxing at the family home on the water. He enjoyed fishing-though he never cared much for eating fish himself.

Scott was well known for his generous spirit and exceptional cooking skills. He rarely made a small batch of anything and found great happiness in feeding others. Many will remember his time working as a cook at Lenny's in Grand Rapids, where his passion for food and people came together naturally.

He also had a soft spot for English Springer Spaniels and loved spending time with his brother's dog. In his later years, Scott moved back into the family home, where he lived with his brother and sister-in-law.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert Jr. "Bobby" McDonald and Mike McDonald. He is survived by his brother Walter "Jeff" McDonald and sister-in-law Delinda McDonald, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

In keeping with Scott's wishes, no public services will be held at this time.
