Sharon Lee Fitzpatrick

Sharon Lee (Powers) Fitzpatrick of Plainwell, MI passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the age of 79. She was born in Plainwell, MI on January 3, 1943 the daughter of Charles and Evelyn (Whitmore) Powers.

On July 8, 1960, at the Plainwell Methodist Church, Sharon married the love of her life, Archie Fitzpatrick. In 1962, the young couple welcomed their first child, Randy, into the world. Two years later the small family grew again with the birth of a daughter, Sandy. The births of their children were the happiest days of Sharon and Archie’s life.

Sharon will be fondly remembered for spending time with family, camping, canning, playing bingo, and card games.  She camped all over Michigan with her family and loved to vacation with them including places such as Mount Rushmore, Las Vegas, and Little Gasparilla Island, Florida.  Sharon even traveled to Italy to visit Randy and his family while he was stationed at San Vito Air Force Station.  She was a canning connoisseur and fancied teaching her daughter and granddaughters to can vegetables, fruits, and meats, and Sharon relished going to play bingo or cards with her best friends.

She is preceded in her passing by her husband of forty-eight years, Archie Fitzpatrick, her parents: Charles and Evelyn Powers; and brother Charles Powers, Jr.  

Left to cherish Sharon’s loving memory are her children: Randy (Leona) Fitzpatrick and Sandy (Henry) Knooihuizen; Grandchildren: Jennifer, Caitlin, Melanie, Whitney, Ben, Matt, Becka, Liz; and Great grandchildren: Trevor, Aliya, Tucker, Grant, Colton, Hazel, Everly, and Hayden; Brother: Ronald Powers; and best friends: Donna Hall, Joyce Golden, Sue Shumaker, Wanda Morris, and Ruth Rhoades. 

In accordance with Sharon’s wishes a celebration of her life will be held at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, 120 South Woodhams Street, Plainwell, MI 49080 on Thursday, June 30, 2022, with a time for visiting from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Risner officiating.  Sharon will be laid to rest with her husband at Hillside Cemetery following the service.  

Memorials made in Sharon’s memory may be directed to the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
