Sherry Lynn Barnhart

September 1, 1950 — March 28, 2024

Three Rivers, MI

Sherry Lynn Barnhart, of Three Rivers, formerly of Vicksburg, passed away on Thursday March 28, 2024, at the age of 73. She is leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sherry was born on September 1, 1950, in Kalamazoo. She was the daughter of Charles and Dolores (Beeman) Osterling. She attended Vicksburg Community Schools and graduated from Vicksburg High School with the Class of 1968. After high school she continued her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). It proved to also set the course of her life in motion to caring for others and also finding the love of her life.

She began her career working alongside Dr. Lloyd Appell and the Vicksburg Hospital, where her passion for nursing flourished.  It was at Dr. Appell’s office that a patient named, Patric Barnhart came into the office looking for assistance with a cut on his hand. As fate would turn out he also fell in love with his nurse soon after. Patric and Sherry hit things off and would be married on May 12, 1973, in Vicksburg. Together they raised two sons: Nathaniel and Todd.

Her dedication led her to serve as a nurse in various locations across St. Joseph County and In Auburn, Nebraska before finding her professional home alongside Terri Dennis at ProMed in Three Rivers until her well-deserved retirement. Her pursuit of excellence in the medical field touched the lives of many patients and colleagues throughout her career.

Those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Sherry will remember her warmth and kindness. Described as caring, selfless, reliable, agreeable, and flexible, she approached every interaction with a gentle touch and a heart full of empathy.

Sherry took a great deal of pride in being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her, and she poured boundless love and unwavering support into each precious moment spent together.

In honoring Sherry Lynn Barnhart's memory, let us carry forward the lessons of love and compassion she so beautifully embodied. Though she may have departed this world, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched with her grace and generosity. May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy will endure through the many hearts she has touched along her remarkable journey.

Sherry Barnhart is survived by her husband of 50 years, Patric; two sons: Nathaniel (Sarah) Barnhart, of Portage; and Todd (Aimee) Barnhart, of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren: Olivia, Emma, Payton, Macie and Evie.
