Kennedy, and they > celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in > September. After completing his undergraduate degree > at Penn State University, Stan served in the U.S. Navy as a > navigator before returning to Penn State to obtain a > Master's degree and a PhD in chemical engineering. He > was employed for over 30 years at the Upjohn Company in > Kalamazoo, and he received the distinguished Upjohn Award in > 1975. Stan enjoyed bowling and playing bridge, but his > passion was golf. He served as president of the > Kalamazoo Men's Golf Association for a number of > years. Stan is survived by his wife June, daughter > Nancy Britten of Portage, son and daughter-in-law Bob > Speaker and Karen Luchessa of Corvallis, Oregon, daughter > and son-in-law Sally and Alan Mattern of > Otsego, and son and daughter-in-law Stanley III and Anna > Speaker of Ballwin, Missouri; grandchildren Rebecca Britten, > Stanley IV, Ian, and Colin Speaker, and Tanner and Schuyler > Mattern; and great-grandchild Nicole White. He is > further survived by brother and siter-in-law Dwight and > Sally Speaker, sister-in-law Margaret Kennedy along with > nieces and nephews Karen Lesman, Robin Muller, Cindy Reich, > Brandt and Wayne Kennedy, Dwight Jr. and Richard Speaker and > their children. A Memorial Service followed by lunch > will be held at Sunnyside United Methodist Church, 2800 Gull > Road in Kalamazoo on Thursday, November 18 at 11:00 > am.
