IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thelma Jean
Pacukewicz
February 10, 1928 – December 27, 2025
Thelma Jean (Potts) Pacukewicz, born February 10, 1928, and went home to be with the Lord December 27th, 2025. Thelma was a devoted wife, mother, and loyal friend, she was a gentle soul, who was faithful to her Savior Jesus Christ, her dependence on Him was apparent.
Thelma attended Kalamazoo Public Schools. She worked for Upjohn’s for a brief period, but her life changed the moment she met Marion (Skeeter) Pacukewicz. They were married on July 12th,1947. The newlyweds soon moved to Mishawaka where Skeeter was employed by the Studebaker Corporation.
In the mid 50s, he began to transition into the grocery business, training as a meat cutter, in Berrien Springs. In 1965, he was transferred to Vicksburg to manage, Thriftway grocery store. At this point the family moved to Barton Lake where they still live today.
Thelma was a part time cashier for many years at Thriftway in Vicksburg and then Jewel Osco, where she enjoyed the rapport she had with her customers, she always had a smile on her face.
When she retired, she loved being outside, in her myrtle garden, with boombox in hand she would spend long summer hours keeping it weed free. Another hobby, along with her sister Betty, included modifying cardigan sweatshirts with lace inserts, which they then sold at craft fairs.
She loved her family; they were a close family so when careers caused the kids to move away she and
Skeeter travelled to visit them several times a year.
Her last years were brightened by Pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress and Dr. David Jeremiah whose sermons she watched regularly as her health made attending church services difficult. Thelma was a testimony to her faith; she will be deeply missed by those who knew her and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends.
Thelma is survived by her two children and son-in law: Judi (Steve) Holton, of Vicksburg and Gary Pacukewicz of Vicksburg and several dearly loved, nieces, great nieces and great nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death: by her parents Richard and Elizabeth Potts, her husband of 71 years Skeeter, her sister, brother, and in laws: Betty and Howard Provost, Bernard and Erlene Potts and Patricia Nickoley.
The family wishes to thank nurse Gary, the remaining hospice team and her caregiver Diana from Vicksburg Family Home Care. They were all wonderful to Thelma.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 10th at noon, at the funeral home the
family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11 AM.
