In Loving Memory of Timothy Lee Fitzstephens

Timothy Lee Fitzstephens was born on August 20, 1963, and passed away suddenly on September 24, 2026. He was born to James and Joyce Fitzstephens in Three Rivers, Michigan, and was the third son of the family, following his brothers Michael and Dan. He later became a big brother to twins David and Scott who came along when Tim was five.

Tim grew up in Schoolcraft, Michigan, and attended Schoolcraft High School from kindergarten through his graduation in 1981. He made many friends and acquaintances and really looked forward to reconnecting whenever possible. He went on to earn a degree from AT&T Technical Institute and later moved to Southern California, where he worked in the defense contracting industry for Northrop Aviation. There, Tim performed testing on highly sensitive missile systems, helping to ensure their quality, safety, and proper function.

Tim discovered his passion for skydiving after deciding one weekend to try a parachute jump. He was immediately hooked. What began as an adventure soon became a way of life. After completing hundreds of skydives, Tim earned his instructor’s license and moved to the Lake Perris area of California to pursue his passion and make a living sharing it with others.

An unfortunate accident eventually brought Tim back to Southwest Michigan and left him unable to continue teaching and skydiving. Even so, he continued to pursue many interests and lived a quiet, fulfilling bachelor life. He took great pride in caring for his property in Plainwell that he purchased back in 2011 and devoted much of his time to his beloved dogs. His last three companions were Baxter, Tucker, and Loki, and it was evident how deeply he loved them and how the loss affected them.

Tim is survived by his four brothers: Michael Fitzstephens, sister-in-law Sandy Conroy of Portage, Daniel Fitzstephens of Mattawan, David Fitzstephens of Belleville, Michigan, and Scott Fitzstephens of Highgate, Vermont. He also has left behind many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Joyce Fitzstephens.

Tim will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his independence, his love of animals, and the passion he brought to the things that mattered most to him. He was a giving person who would anyone in need. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

There will be a small family memorial to lay his ashes to rest. Please take a moment to visit the website to leave a memory of Tim that can be shared with family.
