Timothy Ira Moore quietly passed away at home surrounded by his family, on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the age of 84. Tim was Born December 6, 1938 to Gordon and Geraldyne (Vermeulen) Moore.
Tim was a lifelong member of the Vicksburg community, graduating from Vicksburg High School in 1956. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan 1960 in forestry management. He loved his Michigan Wolverines and had seasons tickets to every home football game for more than 50 years.
As a forester Tim could often be found walking through his beloved woods. He was always checking the trees and searching for Indian arrowhead and artifacts. Tim couldn’t wait for spring to hunt those elusive morel mushrooms and was usually one of the first people out in the woods hunting them down. He was an avid golfer playing on the same golf league for over fifty years. He loved playing golf so much he put in his own little private golf course. Some of Tim’s favorite lifelong times were trips spent at his family Canadian camp making great memories with family and friends.
He was employed at Simpson paper in Vicksburg as the purchasing agent. Tim was a forester and was proud of his work in helping people manage their woods and assisting in the sale of their different timber.
Tim served his community in so many ways over the years. He was a Rotarian with 59 years of perfect attendance serving as a past President and a Paul Harris recipient and earned the district rotary hero award. . . He was a script writer, actor, and chorus member of Vicksburg Rotary Showboat for over 55 years.
He served as the Vicksburg library building fund chairman. He served as a co-chair during funds to build the gas station at the Vicksburg historical village. He was instrumental in procuring all of the timber for the Vicksburg pavilion including harvesting many crucial logs from his own woods.
Served on the United Way committee for many years. Tim also served on the Vicksburg Community School Foundation board for a number of years. Served on the Vicksburg Bronson hospital board. Was a Strive mentor for many years. Contributed on the Thursday guys crew at the historical village for several years.
He is survived by his wife Martha "Marti" Moore, sons Timothy Scott (Lynda) Moore, Christopher (Jael Aumack) Moore, stepsons James Miller, Joshua (Emily) Hillard, Benjamin (Gail) Hillard and Lucas (Shannon) Hillard; 14 grandchildren Zachary, Austin and Meredith Moore, Brandon, Allison, Bella, Cole, Victoria, Tate, Charlotte, Jackson, Winter, Angelica, and Eloise Hillard.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Geraldyne Moore and brother Gordon Moore II.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7pm at the Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Home, 409 South Main, Vicksburg, MI. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11am at the Vicksburg United Methodist Church, 217 South Main Street, Vicksburg, MI. Tim will be interred at the Vicksburg Cemetery.
