Tracey Ann Sulka

Tracey Ann Sulka, 58, of Augusta MI, was called home on October 23, 2025 after a diagnosis of Stage IV cancer earlier in the month. She was surrounded by her husband and siblings at the time of her passing.

Tracey was born on July 2, 1967 to Garry and Patricia Kortz in Grand Rapids, MI, and lived in Bellevue, IL; Pekin, IL; Fulton, MI; and Vicksburg, MI. She graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1985. It was in high school that she met her future husband, Michael Sulka. After high school, the couple spent two years studying at Liberty University. Tracey and Mike were wed in 1991, and went on to have three children: Emily Sulka, Haley Sulka, and Katie Sulka. Tracey was an incredibly devoted, loving wife and mother, and she and Mike were married for nearly 35 years.

Tracey returned to Michigan after her time at Liberty University and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Psychology from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Soon after, she was hired at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, where she worked for a total of 34 years. Her title at the time of her passing was "Senior Technology Specialist."

In her spare time, Tracey read upwards of 300 books each year. She loved visiting Van Buren State Park, spending time with her family and dog, crafting, sewing, and replaying the Legend of Zelda games. She will be missed for her big laugh and even bigger servant's heart.

Tracey was predeceased by her father, Garry Kortz. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Kortz; her husband, Mike Sulka; her children, Emily Sulka, Haley Sulka, and Katie Sulka; her siblings Tammie (Mike) Nagel, Garry Kortz, Teri (Gary) Lively, Tim (Hillary) Kortz, and Trish (Brian) Hutcherson; as well as a long list of nieces and nephews.

A public viewing will be held at Avink McCowen Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, 5975 Lovers Ln, Portage, MI 49002, on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4:00 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 S 12th St, Portage, MI 49024 on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM. A lunch will be provided at the church following the service. Tracey will be laid to rest at Vicksburg Cemetery on W Avenue East near Angels Crossing Golf Club at 2:00 PM.
