McCowen & Secord General Price List

The goods and services in this brochure are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only the items you desire. However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reason in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected. 

When someone dies, there are many tasks that must be accomplished; and along with each task, there is a cost. Since compiling these costs is complicated, we have assembled several packages to simplify this process.

Services Packages

The different types of services provided by the funeral home, and selected by client-families, consist of several itemized professional services grouped together. Service Packages consist of the most commonly selected types of services and provide an entire price in an effort to simplify funeral planning

BURIAL

Burial packages include complete professional service charges ranging from immediate burial services to complete services with visitation, service, and graveside committal

CREMATION

$2195 - $8295

Cremation service packages provide complete professional service charges for services that range from immediate cremation with no service to cremation services with visitation and a memorial service

CREMATION SOCIETY MEMBERSHIP

$25.00 (per person)

Memberships are only available on pre-arrangements. It provides a $200 discount on cremation services selected. Cremation Society Memberships are not available at the time of death

WELFARE

$4000

This service package requires a professional service charge copay of $4000 to supplement services that are funded with assistance from the State of Michigan. This service package applies only when an Application for State Emergency Relief (for burial assistance) has been approved by the Michigan Department of Human Services.

DIRECT CREMATION AND BODY DONATION

Direct Cremation and Body Donation are forms of disposition, not types of services. If you want to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container. Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard, or composition materials (with or without an outside covering). The containers we provide are made of cardboard. Direct Cremation includes transfer of the remains to funeral home, basic services of a funeral director and staff, and service van to crematory. The charge for the cremation process is NOT included. It will be included on the Statement of Funeral Goods and Services Selected as an item we purchase for you. Prices range from $2195 to $22,195 depending on which container you select.

IMMEDIATE BURIAL

Immediate Burial is a form of disposition, not a type of service. Includes transfer of remains to the funeral home, basic services of a funeral director and staff, other preparation of body, and hearse to the local cemetery. $6145 - $22,195

SERVICE PRICES

BASIC SERVICES OF FUNERAL DIRECTOR AND STAFF

ncludes staff necessary to respond to initial services requests, arrangement conference with responsible party, coordinating services plans with other parties involved with the services, obtaining certificates, permits, authorizations, insurance papers, veteran’s benefits, and Social Security benefits. This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. (This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremation, immediate burial, and forwarding or receiving remains.) 

PARTIAL BASIC SERVICES OF FUNERAL DIRECTOR AND STAFF

This lower fee for our basic service and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements for cremation services where the body is not present and for partial services where the body is forwarded or received to/from another location.

EMBALMING

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct
